This free webinar by Cyberchase: Green It Up and Project Learning Tree will explore teaching Mathematics and STEM through an urban or rural environmental lens.

Danika Strecko is the Senior Manager, Education for Project Learning Tree (PLT), an initiative of the Sustainable Forestry Initiative. Danika’s wealth of education experience includes everything from working in the classroom to implementing online learning programs and providing strategic leadership in the education community.

 

Janice Fuld is the Associate Education Director in the Kids’ Media and Education Department at The WNET Group where she designs, oversees, and evaluates local and national educational initiatives. She develops educational resources for students, families, and educators and conducts virtual and in-person workshops and professional development sessions. Janice creates and maintains partnerships with community organizations and PBS stations around the country for WNET programs including Camp TV, Parenting Minutes, and Cyberchase. Before joining WNET in 2007, Janice developed curricula and innovative educational content for parents, teachers, and children, conducted training sessions, and managed & implemented research studies for a variety of websites and television programs including the PBS children’s shows WordWorldBetween the Lions, and international adaptations of Sesame Street. She has also developed educational museum programs, materials and interactive exhibits for children, teachers and families. Janice has a B.A. in psychology from Bryn Mawr College, a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Lesley College Graduate School of Education, and a Master of Education in Educational Technology from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.

Janalyn Maes is currently a reading interventionist for Albuquerque Public Schools at Hodgin Elementary School.  In her 29 years of teaching she has taught prek, kinder, first and second grade.  Janalyn is a National Board Certified Teacher, received her Masters in Education in 2001 from Grand Canyon University, and was named a PBS Early Learning Champion in 2019.  She is a teacher leader for her school, and a teacher mentor for the district, because she enjoys working with other teachers, as well as children.  She has used many of  the free resources from PBS for many years, which led her to find the Cyberchase: Green It Up program!  She has used it in the regular school year at Hodgin Elementary and in summer programs with students from several schools in Albuquerque, NM.
